Enhance your dog's learning

How it works!

Are consultations free?

Yes! Consultations are tailored to meet your specific requirements to determine compatibility prior to committing to our services. Please reach out to your trainer for further details. We provide in-home visits at your convenience, with no obligation involved. This approach allows for a thorough evaluation of your dog by a professional trainer to provide comprehensive insights for developing an effective training plan.

What do I need for class?

Required Items for Class:

  • 6ft nylon leash (standard, non-retractable)

  • Treat bag (for hands-free handling)

  • Abundant supply of your dog's favorite treats

  • Training clicker

These necessary items can be obtained at local pet supply stores such as PetSmart, Petco, or online retailers like Amazon.

What types of treats do you recommend?

I recommend utilizing small sample-sized meaty treats, such as Authority training treats or Bil-Jac treats. Alternatively, suitable options include blueberries, carrot slices, cheese cubes, plain cut-up boiled egg or scrambled eggs, cooked plain turkey slices, or cooked plain shredded chicken.

It is advisable to avoid dry, crunchy cookie-type treats as frequent use may lead to dryness in the dog's mouth.

Can I sign up multiple dogs?

Yes! Please contact your trainer to review the specifics. If you have multiple handlers available to manage extra dogs, they can be enrolled too. We provide a discount for each additional dog; they will be charged at 50% of the original price, given that they are attending sessions alongside the initially enrolled dog.

Can you guarantee your training?

Due to the necessity of owner participation in the dog's training program, we cannot provide a guarantee of your dog's graduation. Each session involves instructing both the owner and the dog in essential tools and skills to improve behavior. However, we assure you that your trainer will be dedicated and transparent, striving to ensure that your dog meets the session's objectives to the best of their ability.

What happens if my dog doesn’t graduate from an obedience course?

The Basic Obedience course is structured to accommodate all dogs, regardless of breed. While some dogs may progress through the course at a faster pace than others, each dog is unique. Post each class, your trainer will assign weekly tasks to be completed with your dog to optimize their success in graduating. Should more time be required for task completion, please reach out to your trainer for assistance. If despite consistent task practice, your dog struggles to grasp the concepts, rest assured this is a rare occurrence. Your trainer is committed to supporting your dog's success, and additional classes are available for purchase at a minimal fee to address any specific needs for bridging the gap.

Scheduling:
Lessons can be flexibly scheduled to accommodate your lifestyle. Please inform your trainer if you prefer recurring dates and times or have a complex schedule for necessary adjustments.

Do you work with aggressive cases?

It truly depends on the specific circumstances, including the dog's reactivity towards humans, dogs, or both. For more information and tailored assistance, kindly reach out to us with thorough details regarding the situation.

What type of training do you do?

At Blue's K9 Tips and Tricks, we implement positive reinforcement and clicker training methods in our sessions.

Positive reinforcement is a fundamental concept in the field of dog training. It involves rewarding your dog with something it finds rewarding immediately after it performs a desired behavior. This approach aims to increase the likelihood of the dog repeating that behavior in the future. The reward could be treats, praise, toys, or any other positive stimuli that motivates the dog. By using positive reinforcement techniques consistently, you can effectively teach your dog new behaviors and strengthen existing ones in a humane and respectful manner.

Are there any dog breeds you don’t work with?

We welcome all breeds big and small.

What if I have a limited schedule or need more time between classes?

At Blue's K9 Tips and Tricks, we prioritize flexibility to accommodate your busy schedule. We recognize the demands of modern life, which is why we encourage open communication with your trainer to tailor your classes to your availability. Additionally, we understand that unexpected events may impede your ability to consistently engage in training activities with your dog. In such instances, feel free to request for additional time from your trainer, giving a minimum 24-hour notice for any rescheduling needs.

Are their cancellations fees if I cancel an appointment?

No, however please ensure open communication with your trainer regarding any appointment changes or cancellations. We recognize the challenges of modern life and are willing to accommodate your needs for working with your dog. In case of emergencies, please keep us informed so we can assist accordingly. Failure to reschedule an appointment within the week after a cancellation will be considered as a missed class. If this occurs twice, your scheduled classes may be forfeited. To avoid such circumstances, maintain regular communication with your trainer to facilitate your pet's progress effectively.

Do I need to confirm my appointment?

Each morning by 9 a.m., your trainer will send you a text message confirming your appointment for the day. Failure to respond before 1 hour prior to your appointment time will result in a missed class. Please note, your trainer allocates sufficient time and resources for travel to your location. Failure to acknowledge confirmation texts or calls will result in a lost session.

Olivia is wonderful!! I’m so happy we found her, she helped us so much. Our Dolly has come so far from when we first started. I was feeling super overwhelmed when we first got our girl from the shelter and Olivia helped us both gain confidence in each other. Dolly loved her sessions and I loved learning ways to wear her out when necessary.

We were so pleased with Olivia for our dog training. Our puppy has a ton of energy and has selective listening but within a few weeks of training we had her on a great track. She spent so much time answering our questions and making sure to address behaviors/issues that were specific to our dog. Her traveling to us was also a hugeeeee convenience and we were so grateful for that. We are looking forward to the next few levels!
— Jennifer Winterton
We highly recommend Olivia! She worked with our two smart but stubborn girls, and they’re already listening much better than before!

We just finished level 1 with one of our puppies. the experience was nothing but enjoyable and not only did our dog learn but we became better dog owners. We can’t wait for our recent grad to move onto level 2 and beyond. I recommend Blue’s 10x over, Olivia was so fantastic and taught us all so much. Nothing but praise!
